How About Ohio?

If we can get a substantial number of family together I suggest we go here:

Huge, Historic, Lake Erie, Lakefront Home

A nice thing about this place is that it is a good place to hang out AND it is near the Cedar Point Amusement Park, which should be fun for a day out (especially for the youngsters like me.)

The downside is that we would really have to max out attendance to make this place affordable. It's $6000/week BUT it can sleep 34. I dont know how we'd want to split up the cost. Just each adult pay a share, or have each adult pay a full share AND have parents pay a 1/4 share for each kid? I'm just thinking out loud. What seems fair?

Potential Difficulties

I've checked a number of places on the VRBO website and it seems that most of them are pretty solidly booked for Summer 2005, at least for places big enough to sleep a lot of people. That doesn't mean that we wouldn't be able to find a place, it just might be a bit more difficult.

Of course if we decide that Aaron's wedding will be the family get-together for 2005, maybe we dont have to shoot for this summer.

Thoughts?

How About Maine?

The first question we should ask is Who wants to do this? Hopefully, all of you will answer "I Do" to that. The second question is Where Do we Do This? Anyone who wants to should offer up suggestions here. I've found a great website to help all of us in our search: www.vrbo.com IS Vacation Rentals By Owners. They have listings for properties all over the world. Just to start us off I've looked at Maine. Get a load of these:

Location: Castine, Maine, USA
Accommodations: Grand Cottage - 10 Bedrooms - 5.5 Baths - (Sleeps 19)

Or maybe:

5000+sq.ft. Waterfront house on Moose Pond Lake (13 miles of water) in Bridgton Maine. 3 min. to Shawnee Peak Ski Area (night skiing until 9pm). Great for 2/3/4 families, corporate business retreats, executive functions, etc. Private beach, 40' dock & swim dock, 2 rowboats. 8 ft. slate pool table. Large Deck with Screened in Porch and Front Lawn.

There are hundreds of other options out there. Lets have some fun!
